Failure=Success
Failure: has a negative ring to it. When we hear failure, we think we have done something wrong, let somebody down and have nowhere to go. But what we are not told is that a failure is a part of life, just as much as mistakes. It challenges us to do better, work harder and prove them wrong. At least that is what I want to do, when somebody tells me I can´t do something. I want to prove them wrong.
I was told in my portfolio review (at the end of my B.A. studies) that they believed I wasn´t good in journalism. I looked at them stunned and once I was out the door I became angry. I had been studying journalism for three years, spent incredible amounts of money, written over 30 articles in our newspaper and only at the end do they dare to tell me I´m not good enough. I didn´t accept it. At that time they were looking for entries for Webbies (Webster Media Awards), so I submitted my work and waited. I got a call one morning that I had won. I was surprised and happy because my ultimate purpose for my submission was to prove my teachers wrong and that I was good in journalism and that award did that. Plus it was the first trophies I had won ever. So what I want to tell you is failure is a part of life. It´s normal to feel bad when you feel like you have failed but don´t let it discourage you, make it encourage you.
We have to accept that we are human beings, we are not perfect at everything. We make mistakes. We fail. But the good news is that we can do better and we will. It´s amazing how much we focus on the things we cannot do instead of the things we can. We have to also reward ourselves (be proud of ourselves) for the things we´ve achieved instead of only looking at the things we haven´t.
So don´t focus too much on your failures. Don´t listen to those who tell you that you are one. Keep on going and believe in yourself. Anything is possible. Don´t believe me, take a look at the video below (of so called “failures”)
